The CJLC congratulates the Jewish and Allied members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF). This week, at their annual meeting, these OSSTF members convinced the delegation to remove several motions from the agenda, including a proposal aimed at providing resources for training on Anti-Palestinian Racism. The decision followed a point of consideration raised by union members, who opposed the motion on grounds that debate (and by extension, the motion itself) could be harmful and divisive.

The rejection of this motion emphasized the importance of maintaining a supportive and inclusive environment for all OSSTF members.

This decision highlights the importance of ongoing mobilization and strategic intervention. These Jewish union members and allies faced significant opposition, but by remaining focused on their message, they achieved a win for their colleagues. In doing so, they made the OSSTF a better union.
